Business Intelligence Dashboards
What Are BI Dashboards?
Dashboards are visualization representations of data and information. It is a component of the overall business Intelligence (BI) solution. They are used to summarize information into metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) with the intent of highlighting performance trends and metrics.
Typically, dashboards are the starting point for quantitative analysis and asking why, how or digging into the reason for metrics and KPIs that indicate divergence for planned strategic goals.
For example, the analysts and managers in Purchasing & AP departments would like to understand purchasing and spend analytics while corporate finance would be interested in traditional financial metrics. The CFO may want a larger set of KPIs and metrics that span all financial areas.
The intent is a starting point for analysis where it allows management a condensed, visually rich, instant view of performance without needing to run reports or perform various queries.
